SCOPE

Compare the work, not just the certificate layout.

Ask each provider to describe the proposed testing scope and what the report includes. A visually polished certificate is not a substitute for understanding the analytical work behind it.

TRACEABILITY

Check how the sample is identified.

Ask which sample, lot and report references will appear. Discuss how the client’s supplied description is distinguished from laboratory-assigned identifiers and how corrections are documented.

ACCESS

Understand who can retrieve the document.

Discuss direct report links, PDF delivery and whether the result will be published. A shareable link can be forwarded; it is not the same as a login-protected private account. Agree on the publication choice before release.

CLARITY

Request answers before commissioning work.

Use the same sample description and reporting request when seeking quotes. Ask for current method availability, sample instructions, price and expected timing. The strongest comparison is between clearly defined proposals.
